So a friend of mine, http://gotmusic69.livejournal.com/ , is doing a challenge to live out of the pantry for a week.  I am planning on joining her in the challenge for a week. (Well until Thursday and then hopefully more when we come home on sunday.)  In addition, I am not going to be spending a dime out of our checking account this week for any expenses.  I started with $25 in cash, with one big NEED… duck food.  So today I spend $11.00 on duck food and don’t plan on buying anything else until thursday.

Yesterday we had

Breakfast:

cereal, juice, milk

Lunch:

tortillas, cheese, bananas, milk

Dinner:

bbqs, tater tots, corn

and today

Breakfast:

waffles with syrup, peanut butter, milk

Lunch:

bbqs, pineapple, noodles, milk

Dinner:

tomato soup, grilled cheese or egg salad sandwiches, green beans, milk

I’m really not sure what the plan is looking like tomorrow.  I guess some digging is in order to plan for tomorrow!

Thanks Jules!

Just an update… March 5, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — avaliandellab @ 8:30 pm

It’s been a while since I’ve taken the time to put anything substantial on here.. so here it is.

Avali–  Avali is doing very well in school and she is loving it!   She is writing her name like a pro now, along with Ella’s name, and anything else we will help her with!  We’re working on counting right now.  Ok so yeah, that sounds silly considereing she’s nearly five, but this girl just does not want to count! Ugh Girls!!! She’s been incredibly well behaved and so understanding with Cooper!  Don’t get me wrong, we still have the tantrums, just nothing like we used to!  She’s come a long way baby!  She is so excited about having a baby sister… and understands that is MAY be a brother despite what Ella says.  Although Ava would prefer a new big sister. It’s kind of hard to get that point across to her. No matter what Ava will always be the big sister, but just fits the role so well! Miss Ava will be turning FIVE this month and I just can never understand where that time went!  It sounds so cliche, but how is she five already? So here is a picture I took of Ava this afternoon, just a little doll!  The chart is from her check up yesterday, the details are that legible, but you can get the idea… the kid is off the charts for her height and weight and always has been!

Ellison–  Oh my Ella, dear dear gross princess Ella.  God love the child, but wow!  Ella is such a princess.  The girl is constantly in a princess dress or something girly!  BUT she is always always dirty! Fresh out of the tub… dirty!  On saturday she was caught licking… yes I said licking… the front edge of the walmart service counter!  ACK!!!  So so incredibly gross… not long after that, eating jello off the floor of the chinese restaurant before I even knew what was happening!  BUT I have to say, the girl has an immune system like I’ve never seen! :D  But really, she is the sweetest thing! She loves her brother, she loves her sister, and she cannot wait for her “new baby sister” to come!  She rubs my belly every morning to talk to her baby sister and see if she can feel her.  Ella is a huge cuddle bug right now, and is known to be the one of our kids that will fall asleep pretty much anywhere!

Cooper–  Then there’s Coop-Man Stink… Cooper is FULL of it lately!  A wild wild boy!  He loves to dance, and play with cars and trucks… and occasionally his sister’s dress up stuff! (Much to Daddy’s dismay!)   Cooper likes to tell us when he has an icky diaper and is, from time to time, wanting us to put him on the potty!   Don’t assume though, because he is no where near ready to train!  Coopie man is a jabber box lately too!  He has probably 60 words or so… maybe more and is using up to 4 or 5 word phrases.  Oh but the temper!  He’s starting to remind us of those fabulous tantrum months from Avas 18 month to 2 year age span.  Not cool!  But he is a hugger and a lover, and that totally makes up for it!  I love that he is still a snuggler.  He loves his left thumb and his blue afghans, so that helps the snuggling a lot! ♥

Oh my Ella… February 17, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — avaliandellab @ 8:04 pm

So today my bff watched Ella and Cooper while I went to get a haircut and get a pregnancy, yes pregnancy, test done at the clinic.  While I was gone Ella had a couple of her Stellar Eller moments…

1) She walks out of the bathroom with a huge lump in her pants… upon further inspection it was a big ole lump of toilet paper wadded up.  Wonder what that was stashed for?

2) Later, Ella was watching tv and playing with the inchworm ride on toyinchworm when she zoned in on the tv and picked up the inchworm. (Still concentrating intently on the tv… Dora was on) Ella proceed to LICK the worm… all the way down the entire seat! ACK!!!  What was the girl thinking?

Then I came to pick her up and got the usual, “Mommy I missed-ed you!”  We stayed there for a while, and Ella got a treat…. a strawberry poptart.  Well, after hers was gone, she asked for, “Another beautiful granola bar”  Yes, that’s how she refers to a poptart… a beautiful granola bar.poptart

For Christmas we got an air popper for our popcorn.  Avali was so excited when she got to watch the popcorn flying out of the machine.  As we were sitting there a bit later eating our popcorn… she had a suggestion.  ”Mom, we could put apple seeds in there and make little apples in it!”  How adorable! The age of innocence!!

From Green to Brown… December 28, 2008

It seems with the cold weather and getting lazy my “green-ness” is going brown. I think a picture is worth more than the words for this.

So… back to working on getting green!

Only when it’s leaking… December 28, 2008

Filed under: Ava, my 4 year old teenager — avaliandellab @ 1:23 pm

I have been trying to post on here when the kids say something hilarious.  Those are the things that I just don’t want to foget… ever!  Well of course there have been tons of things that I wanted to post, and haven’t…  *crying now*  But this is one story from Ava that just can’t be forgotten!

One day a couple of weeks ago, she came up to me and explained why and when you need to pick  your nose.  ”When your nose is the leaking kind you can blow it, but when it’s not the leaking kind then you have to pick it.”  I thought I was going to die laughing!  I tried to explaid to her that you shouldn’t pick your nose, but she was very adamant about her theory.  So instead of arguing with her I told her if your nose isn’t leaky and you need to pick it you have to do it in the bathroom, with a tissue, door closed and wash your hands when you’re done. ??? What is a person supposed to say to this stuff?!

The thing every child in Wisconsin must learn the hard way… December 22, 2008

Filed under: ACE Adventures out!, Ava, my 4 year old teenager — avaliandellab @ 11:05 pm

Well, it happened in The Christmas Story and people make jokes about it.  It ranks right up there with window licking in the gross/weird things kids do factor…. Yup I’m talking about sticking your tongue to cold metal. Today as we were leaving Wally World, I was putting Cooper in his carseat and left Ava to her own devices for just a couple seconds.  Sure enough, curiosity got to her and she stuck her tongue to the cart return!  7 degrees BELOW zero, and before I even knew she did it, she pulled it off by herself!  She didn’t cry and she got in the van and said,

“Mom, it didn’t stay there, it came off.”

I asked, “What came off, What are you talking about?”

“My tongue, it didn’t stay there.”

Me: “Did you stick your tongue on something cold?”

Ava: “No, only a little, it was an accident.”

Me: “Oh no, Ava did you stick your tongue where the carts go?  Let me see your tongue…”

Ava: Instantly crying, “Yeah I did right there… See….” and sticks out her tongue.

Signs of the Times October 27, 2008

As we all know, the economy has been less than ideal lately.  There are tons of things around us that verify just that… gas prices, lay offs, difficulties with lenders, a HUGE bail-out plan.  If you look around you’re bound to notice something!  In the past couple of weeks these are two signs printed and posted by local small business owners.

This is a good one….

But THIS is my favorite!

Need I say more?

You ROCK! October 27, 2008

Filed under: Ava, my 4 year old teenager, Stories from Ella — avaliandellab @ 8:55 pm

Around our house one of the dumb things I say that totally motivates our girls is, “Thanks!  You rock!”  This can be used when one of the kids finishes their supper, when they brush their teeth, clean their toys, get dressed… pretty much anything.  Last week one day, I told Ava that she rocked because she got dressed for school right away like I had asked.  (This may seem small, but around here that is a huge feat!)  Fast forward a few minutes to Ella getting up.  I over hear Ava talking to Ella quietly, “Ella, today is my day to rock.  Ok?  You can rock tomorrow.  Today I just wanna rock, not you, not Daddy, not Cooper, not Mommy, just me today ok?”

Ella… “Umm, ok Aba,  you can rock today.  I will rock tomowwow.”

“Thanks Ella!”
